What is the difference between full & half canvas?Updated a month ago

Samuelsohn and Heritage Gold only use canvas construction. The canvas is a layer of fabric (traditionally made from horsehair, wool, and other materials) that is placed between the outer fabric of the suit and the inner lining. The purpose of the canvas is to provide structure and shape to the suit jacket, allowing it to mold to the wearer's body over time.

Samuelsohn & Heritage Gold jackets, sport coats, and tuxedo jackets offered in full and half canvas construction.

Full Canvas: The canvas layer extends from the shoulders down to the hem of the jacket. This type of construction is often considered the highest quality because it allows the jacket to drape naturally and adapt to the wearer's body over time, leading to a better fit and greater comfort. Full canvas construction is more labor-intensive and time-consuming, making these suits more expensive.

Half Canvas: In a half canvas jacket, the canvas extends from the shoulders down to the chest and typically stops around the pocket area. This method still provides some of the benefits of canvas construction, such as better shape and structure compared to fused suits; however, it can be produced at a lower cost.
